Japan

A shrine path at six in the morning, before anyone else has arrived. Steam rising off a bowl in a basement counter shop. Moss that has been left alone long enough to become architecture. Mount Fuji, seen from a train window, gone in four seconds.

These pieces are drawn from the quieter register of the country — torii gates half-hidden in bamboo, indigo cloth, the pause between one place and the next.
